Galvanized steel sheet
This standard applies to sheet steel and cold-rolled steel in coils, hot-dip galvanized in continuous galvanizing machines, intended for coldroll forming, and also for painting and manufacturing of moulded parts, kitchenware, containers, and other metal products.
Technical parameters established by this standard correspond to the requirements of the extra-quality and first-quality categories.
Classified into:
- In terms of intended use:
- For cold-stamping – ХШ;
- For coldroll forming – ХП;
- For painting (temper-rolled) – ПК;
- For general use - ОН.
- In terms of drawing capacity (cold-stamping (ХШ) group steels):
- regular drawing -Н;
- deep drawing - Г;
- extra-deep drawing – ВГ.
- In terms of the galvanized coating smoothness:
- Normal gage interference - НР;
- Reduced gage interference - УР.
As agreed with the client, galvanized steel can be manufactures:
- With the crystallization pattern - КР;
- With no crystallization pattern - МТ.
Depending on the coating thickness, galvanized steels fall into 3 classes as follows:

Galvanized steel is produced from carbon cold-rolled steel and offered within the width range from 710 up to 1800 mm, inclusively, and within the thickness range from 0.5 up to 2.5 mm, inclusively. For galvanizing, zinc of grades C0 and C1 is used with the addition of aluminum, lead, and other metals. Alloying with lead is permitted due to the introduction of the grade C2 zinc. The preservation serves to protect the surface against corrosion: passivation, oiling, or a combination of the two. If requested by the client, conservation of the galvanized steel can be omitted. Example of the marking designation: galvanized sheet in coils, 1.2 mm thick, 1000 mm wide, with the enhanced rolling accuracy A, sheared 0-type edge, 08кп grade, extra-deep drawing ВГ, with no crystallization pattern MT, with the reduced gage interference УР, and with the class II coating, pursuant to GOST 14918-80 will be as follows with Russian letters: ОЦ А - О – 1.2х1000 ГОСТ 19904-74 08кп ВГ - МТ - УР - 2 ГОСТ 14918-80
